Kimono Top + FREE Sewing Pattern
Love, love, love loose fitting kimono style tops. I made this exact same one before – see the FREE Sewing Pattern – here. More FREE Sewing patterns and variations of this top are – here – and – here. As you can see your fabric choice has a huge bearing on the outcome of how this kimono top will look and fit. This version is loose and soft. Great for hot summer days. Here’s how to make one.
You need: –
- paper to make your pattern
- ruler/tape measure to make pattern
- pencil to mark pattern
- fabric
- matching colour thread
- sewing scissors
- pins
You do: –
First make your pattern. I’m a UK dress size 10. If you are larger or smaller then you will need to adjust the measurements here.
Now cut two pieces – a back and a front.
To make the neckline, I snipped a couple of centimetres in the middle. See pattern at the top. And then curved the neckline. I made the front slightly lower than the back neckline.
Pin and sew shoulders, sides and arms as per picture.
Hem all around.
Voila! A quick easy on-trend top.
More next week.
