Am totally and utterly in love with this Wilder Gown Dress. Since I started buying pattern magazines and downloading PDF patterns, I have to say, I’ve had OK results. Usually I have to make the item once – figure out what to do – and then make it again to get a satisfactory result. Sometimes less than satisfactory.
I see the very same pattern that just flopped with me – looking fabulous on Instagram. Suspect the people sharing their pics are more experienced sewers. Or pattern designers who can see at a glance how to adjust a pattern to fit them.
This pattern is from – Friday Pattern Company – and it’s flop proof. Dead easy to make. It has raglan sleeves, so no easing in of sleeves. No zips, buttons or fancy closures. My kind of pattern.
I’ve made 6 of them now. Instead of adding two tiers of the dress, I made a single longer tier. Which gives a slimmer fit. And makes it even quicker to whizz together. Been making mine in viscose which is the perfect fabric. Not too sheer. Lots of drape.
I love, love, a 3/4 sleeve as I cannot bear cuffs and stuff flapping around my wrists. Have also made this as a top twice. Will share those pics.
I’ve also made this in green – of course. A khaki and an apple green. Will share those soon as well.
Have a fabulous green week.
Greenie.
