Large Winter Shawl
Not sure why I’m posting this large winter shawl as it looks like we’re never going to have winter here in Cape Town. Our city gave estimates projecting how temperatures here are going to rise in the next few decades. Downright scary. Ah well, I went and made this large winter shawl a few months back and so now I have it.
The inspiration for this shawl was one I saw at Zara. Loved it. Did not love the price. Then I saw a piece of fabric that was exactly like the Zara shawl. At a fraction of the price. Bonus!
This is so easy to make. You don’t even need a sewing machine. Look out for a nice coarse weave fabric measuring 1 metre wide x 2 metres long.
You want to fray all around the edges. I used a thick wool needle to manoeuvre the threads loose.
You can zig zag at the base of the fraying to hold the remaining weft and warp threads in place but I’m too impatient to do things like that. My large winter shawl is not unravelling.
And that people is all there is to this easy DIY project.
Have a great green week.
