My other half and I have been fixing up and furnishing a flat in South West London. On the cheap. But even if we could spend money, both of are disinclined to go all out. We both prefer to DIY as much as possible and save on costs. The flat desperately needed some wall art. I scrounged charity shops but found nothing I liked. The inspiration for this easy modern art was a video on You Tube. Search for – (DIY easy room decor! Abstract wall art). Fabulous video.
Let me be clear about something. I have no art credentials. Never touched a tube of acrylics in my life. If I can do this, anyone can. Have to say I’m very happy with my easy modern art.
You need: –
- stretched canvas
- brushes
- acrylic paints
- a piece of cardboard to squeeze your paint on
You do: –
I used regular paint brushes from the hardware which gave nice broad strokes. And because we already had them.
I made mini strokes at 90′ angles. And then added more strokes. Filling in any spaces.
You keep on layering more and more paint until you’re happy. If you’ve placed a bit too much of one colour in a spot. Go over it with another colour. Just try not to mix the paints together too much or your will end up with a dingy colour.
I can’t imagine I will suddenly take up art. However I had fun with this one.
Have a fabulous week.
Greenie.
