Make your own summer dress
Following on from the – the last post – here is another version of the easy triangle dress.
To re-state what I have probably said a few times in this blog, the variations when you make your own clothes are endless. This dress would make a perfect LBD or be equally at home on the beach. You could probably get away with a much lighter weight fabric. I liked the heaviness of this fabric as it keeps the dress solid and gives more shape to the A-line.
Fabric patterns or trims would give the dress that something extra. Maybe a ribbon trim at the hemline? Pockets? Contrasting colour ribbon for the shoulder straps? Top-stitching? Shorter hemline?
It’s up to you but options certainly are abundant.
The basic pattern is so easy and the fit is eternally flattering. Martha Stewart has a pattern here – dress pattern.
This is just the dress for when you are having a fat tummy day. In this version of the dress I rounded the neckline ever so slightly when I made the pattern for a slight variation.

I like it. Do you have it, “Plus Size”.
I based this on a Martha Stewart pattern. Have a look on her website.
All the best,
