How to make plastic coated wire rings

Scooby Doo rings mixed with classic rings

I like mixing up items of varying value. Like in this picture. Scooby Doo rings made from plastic coated cable have been mixed with other classic rings. It’s also the addition of colour to basic metals that gives a lovely contrast.

Instructions for Scooby Doo rings and bangles are in an older post. Find that – here. You can also see how to make beaded rings – in this post – and button rings – by clicking on this link.

Phillipa Green works with perspex and makes gorgeous pieces. Have a look at her website Philippa Green. Another local designer who is willing to work with mixed and unusual materials is Elske Nel. Find her work at Trinket Design.

A fellow blogger who makes the cutest brooches and flower embellished headbands is Sara Trickett. She blogs at Lucky you hand made.

In one of my first blogging posts I showed how to make easy brooches with FIMO® and cookie cutters.

The Greenie Galleries at the top of this page have 100s of photos of older and newer projects showing multiple ways to make your own clothing and accessories. There are also ideas to recycle or upcycle.
