Dyeing clothes
I really wanted a bright coloured waistcoat. My wardrobe basics are in black and white. Wearing an intense colour by contrast can make the particular clothing item really pop out.
In my wardrobe was a white denim waistcoat that I decided to have dyed lime green at the laundry service. The result was perfect and I would never have found an item like this in a retail outlet.
The nice thing about dying is that you can breathe life in slightly tired whites. Gym tank tops and even sports bras can become a little faded from frequent washing when they are still good to wear.
I have even dyed some of my whites in tea to create nude coloured clothing. The trick is to follow the instructions for dying in tea to the letter or you will get blotchy results.
