Wall Shoe Holder
I found the inspiration for this from Style Novice on You Tube. I’m happy with it but I should have made the pockets a bit deeper.
I used an A4 page for the pocket pattern. Then made the background piece to fit the pockets. Here’s how I made this.
You need: –
- fabric
- matching colour thread
- sewing machine
- 2 x wooden rods
- eye hooks
- rope
You do: –
As said earlier, I used an A4 piece of paper to make the pockets. The width was fine but they needed to be deeper. So if I made this again, I would use the width and make these pockets square.
You want to fold the pockets so the ends meet at the bottom. Place the pockets on your back piece and put a shoe in place so you can get a sense of how far to space the pockets apart. If you want to, you can mark the spots with either soap or chalk.
You need to allow enough space at the top and bottom for a deep fold to slip in a rod.
Hem the sides of your backing piece.
Hem the top of your pockets and then fold and press the bottom and sides.
Make the folds as per the picture and press so they hold the shape.
Place your pockets in place on your backing piece. Pin them.
Sew only the sides of your pockets in place.
Sew the bottom end of the pockets in place.
Fold over top and bottom and hem. Slip a wooden rod in each. For the top rod, add a mini eye hook at each end. Tie some rope to the eye hook so you can hang this.
And that’s it. Job done.
Have a great green week.
