Malachite Earrings
I’ve been trawling Pinterest for inspiration to make silver wire jewelery and came across something similar to this pair of malachite earrings. I love the simplicity of it. No clasps or soldering or anything other than a bit of calculated bending.
You need: –
- silver wire
- beads
- pliers
- ruler
- metal file
You do: –
Take an existing pair of earrings that are the right size for you and place them on a piece of paper. Draw the design you want on the paper next to your earrings. This is your template. Measure out along the shape using a piece of string and note that measurement. Also note the measurements at the points where you will bend or curve your wire.
Now uncurl your wire gently so as not to make any kinks. You almost want to massge it slowly to get is as straight as possible as oppsed to bending it straight.
Measure out your silver wire and cut it. File the ends so there are no sharp bits.
Lastly bend and curve your earrings into shape. I used the soft rubber handle of the piers to coax the top of these earrings into into an arch.
