Business Card Holder
Make your own business card holder using animal friendly pleather. These business card holders make great and inexpensive gifts. You can customise them by sticking on charms or punching and hand sewing them in embroidery thread. I’ve made a slightly different one in suedette. You can see it – here.
I also made a – Pleather Spectacle Case – a – Pleather Tote Bag – a – Pleather Necklace – and – Pleather Earrings out of the piece of pleather I bought. A little goes a long way.
You need: –
- pleather
- matching colour thread
- sewing machine
- cutting knife
- large wooden board to cut on
- metal or firm ruler
- pencil
You do: –
Take a business card and get a sense of the size of your business card holder. You need to allow extra to sew a seam around the edge.
Sewing pleather is not easy as the sewing machine foot tends to stick to it and the pleather doesn’t move freely. I suggest you make a generous seam allowance. And use a piece of fine paper or tissue paper. Place the paper on top of the pleather but under the sewing machine foot when you sew the two pieces together. This allows a bit more glide.
The other thing I strongly recommend is using a metal ruler and a razor knife to cut the two pieces. Scissors just don’t give a nice clean edge.
When sewing the two pieces together I made sure to hold the pieces together firmly when sewing as you can’t pin these together.
A quick easy-to make-gift for yourself or for friends.
Have a great green week.
