Fabric Scrap Choker

Fabric Scrap Choker

Fabric Scrap Choker

My love affair with choker necklaces is far from over. This one is made from Shweshwe fabric off-cuts hence a fabric scrap choker. Shweshwe is a particular style of print common in South Africa. It usually comes in lovely colours. You could add a pendant to this fabric scrap choker – see below for something different. There’s not a lot to making these. And they tick the eco fashion box.

You need: –

  • fabric off cuts
  • matching coloured thread
  • ruler
  • pencil or chalk
  • sewing scissors
  •  a sewing machine

You do: –

Mark the width to cut the fabric strips with a ruler. Then cut your fabric strips.

I like to iron the strips folded as it makes it easier to sew them. If your fabric folds easily then skip ironing.

However, definitely press them afterwards.

You can use shorter or long strips to wear as a choker. I like to wear mine wound around my neck a few times as you can see on the model.

Have a fabulous green week.
