Mixed Medium Necklace
This mixed medium necklace came as a result of buying key-rings in bulk and ending up with far too many. I also had a bunch of rings and bits of chain that I couldn’t do anything with. Unless I strung them all together. Which is exactly what I did. And now I have a favourite mixed medium necklace.
You need: –
- odd bits of chain
- O-Rings
- key rings
- any circular pieces – there’s a real ring in there
- pliers
You do: –
I lay the various bits of chain down and divided each piece into about 5 equal size lengths. Fortunately I had an abundance of O-Rings and key rings so I didn’t have to worry about having enough. But for every piece of chain, you need at least 2 x O-Rings – one at each end – to join them.
If you don’t have enough O-Rings, then you can make your pieces of chain longer. This is a fun thing so play with it. It’s about using up odd bits. You could also add charms to the O-Rings. Or home-made tassels from left-over wool or cotton? You could punch or cut shapes from oddments of pleather and add them? I’ve even made jewellery from food packaging.
