Greenie Dresses for Less outfit

Tassels and pom poms on scarves

The last two posts have shown how to make pom poms and tassels as well as some ideas for using them to breathe new life into old clothes and accessories in your wardrobe. My model is posing in two scarves that have been embellished with pom poms and tassels.

The rest of her outfit consists of a basic white shirt. I buy budget priced and hard wearing school shirts. The maxi skirt is home made. I showed how to make them in this post – maxi skirt pattern.

The OBI belt is one of my favorite items to wear. I must have made at least 6 of them. For the how-to follow this link – OBI belt pattern. And the neck chain goes back a long way to a much earlier post. I showed how I made it here – how to make a chain necklace.

My model is wearing four DIY or home-made items today. Good on her.

Greenie gets a mention in an in-flight magazine

The point of this blog is to recycle, or up cycle, what I have in my wardrobe or at home to create newer looking and more up to date outfits. I prefer to shop at charity shops for second hand clothing. It’s the least I can do to pursue a greener lifestyle and be eco fashionable.

But I am not going to lie, it is so hard to resist buying new when the magazines and shops seem to conspire to entice a person into buying. But a few canny magazines have published some of my ideas. I can only hope that I am not alone wanting greener fashion choices.

Greenie goes into Marie Claire and Glamour.

Find the Greenie Galleries at the top of this page. It’s an archive of tutorials showing crafting and sewing. I try to find ways to DIY before rushing out and buying.

See you in 7 days.

Greenie.
