How to fix a bag strap
Replace broken handbag strap |
The cornerstones of green consciousness are reduce, reuse and recycle. I would like to add repair. The straps of the dark green patent bag in the photo were seriously perished. The rest of the handbag was fine. I had some black strapping left over from when I made skinny belts. Remember them? Skinny belts
As you can see I cut the strapping to the required length and had pinned it in place. The next step is to stitch the straps to secure them. It seems crazy to fling something out when a little bit of effort could restore it, or even better, improve it. Mending is often a lot easier that you realise.

Brilliant! This is just ingenuous and creative! I also used some straps for my bags and when my 3 year old tore the strap of his backpack. I have been using a Polypropylene strap, and up until now, the items I've worked with it haven't shown signs of breaking.
