Handbag scarf

1 x handbag + 1 x scarf = tres chic

Here’s a really easy one for this post. No sewing. No nothing. Take a favorite bag. Add a scarf. Voila! You double up the impact of your handbag. I showed this idea on one of my tote bags in an older post. It’s an easy way to blend components of an outfit. By that I mean, if you were going all Isabel Marant rockabilly but had a tame looking bag, you could use a hounds tooth or gingham scarf to lend the bag some ’50’s pazzazz.

And you can do more than wrap a scarf around the handle of your latest best handbag. Scarves can be worn in millions of ways just around your neck. Smaller ones around your wrist and larger ones work as shawls or sarongs. I think desert scarfs are nearing the end of their moment in the sun. It’s time to retire them to the back of the wardrobe. Or recycle them into something new? Watch this space for ideas.

The Greenie Galleries at the top of this page have 100s of photos of older and newer projects showing multiple ways to make your own clothing and accessories. There are also ideas to recycle or upcycle.

See you soon.
