Brocade Trim to a Cardigan, Multi Layer Chains

How to upcycle a cardigan

The story with this cardigan started off with me unpicking the label at the neckline as it was scratching and driving me mad.

Unfortunately I cut the actual jersey and it started unravelling. I managed to darn the nick by hand but the repair job was visible. So I bought this trim and hand stitched it onto the cardigan. What a transformation! I love it.

The necklace is a selection of long chains. You may recognise the coin chain from a previous post in amongst the neck chains. The whole look is very Coco Chanel.

The Greenie Galleries at the top of this page have 100s of photos of older and newer projects showing multiple ways to make your own clothing and accessories. There are also ideas to recycle or upcycle.

See you soon.

  1. What a clever idea! I have some pretty left over braid. If I buy a new cardigan, does that qualify as eco friendly??? Maybe a cheap school cardigan from one of the chain stores!!
