DIY Chanel inspired coat

Following on from yesterday’s post. Here is one of my own versions of adding a trim to perk up a jacket or coat. The inspiration for this was Chanel. A few years back they had trench coats with this particular type of trim. I saw Madonna in one and loved it.

This trench coat used to belong to my great aunt. It is still in perfect condition and a sort of dull grey-green colour.
The detail is exactly what this coat needed to give it a touch more character.

Right now I am looking for a nice brocade or metallic trim to add to my jackets to give them more of a military feel. Fashion trends come and go all the time but adding braid or brocade means you can buy into the look temporarily. When the look is over, off comes the trim.
